GenX BFF

Like your best friend, if she could do math.

Privacy Policy

The short version

Your meals, weight, measurements, and journal stay on your iPhone and in your own private iCloud. GenX BFF has no ads, no tracking, and no analytics, and we never sell your information. We don't have accounts, and we can't see your data.

Who we are

GenX BFF is made by The Dyslexia Code, LLC ("we"). Questions? Email danielle.pettifor@gmail.com.

What stays on your phone and in your iCloud

Everything you enter, including your profile, recipes, meals, weigh-ins, measurements, journal, symptoms, water, and settings, is saved on your iPhone. If you use iCloud, Apple keeps a private copy in your own iCloud account so it syncs to your devices. Only you can access it. We can't.

Apple Health

If you choose to connect Apple Health, GenX BFF reads your weight, body fat, waist measurements, and sleep, and saves the weight, body fat, and waist measurements you log. You can change this anytime in the Health app. Health information is used only to show your progress and journal inside the app. It's never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared with anyone, except the BFF wins you choose to share (see below).

Looking up nutrition

To find nutrition, GenX BFF sends ingredient names (like "1 cup quinoa") and any barcode numbers you scan to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's FoodData Central service. Nothing about you is included. USDA's own privacy policy applies to that service.

Camera and photos

If you scan a barcode, snap a nutrition label, or import a recipe from a photo, the picture is read right on your iPhone. Photos aren't uploaded or stored by us.

Your BFFs (only if you turn it on)

BFF sharing is off unless you turn it on. When it's on, a small "BFF card" is stored in GenX BFF's shared iCloud space, under a long private code that only your BFF link points to. It includes:

  • Your first name (or "Your BFF" if you didn't add one)
  • Days of showing up and your streak
  • Milestones reached, which can include pounds-lost milestones like "10 lb down"
  • This week's wins, like strength sessions or water goals
  • Wins beyond the scale, only the ones you mark to share

Your weight, food, and journal are never included. Turn sharing off anytime, and your card is deleted. Cheers you send to a BFF include your first name and the cheer, and are kept with her card.

Notifications

Reminders, like your after-meal check-in or evening journal reminder, are scheduled on your iPhone. They aren't sent through any server.

Recipe links

When you share a recipe, the recipe travels inside the link itself. Our website shows it in the browser and doesn't store it.

Deleting your information

Deleting GenX BFF removes everything stored on your iPhone. To remove your iCloud copy, open the Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Storage, and delete GenX BFF's data. Turning off BFF sharing deletes your BFF card. For help, email us.

Children

GenX BFF is made for adults. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Not medical advice

GenX BFF offers estimates and encouragement, not medical advice. Please talk with your doctor about your health.
